Item description

The bronze Napoleon quill pen calligraphy set is dedicated to the famous historical figure, and the design is inspired by the neoclassical style. The scarlet velvet mantle with bees forms the background and is surmounted by the imperial crown. The main element of the emblem is the eagle. Bees, the symbol of immortality and resurrection were discovered in 1653 in Tournai in the tomb of Childericus I, founder in 457 of the Merovingian dynasty. They are considered the oldest emblem of the sovereigns of France. Napoleon had the treasure bees sewn on his cloak used for his coronation as emperor. According to a Breton legend, bees were generated by Christ’s tears on the cross. The calligraphy set is sold in an elegant and exclusive gift box. The calligraphy set is sold in an elegant gift box with five vintage nibs for different calligraphy styles. An inkwell with bronze friezes and black calligraphic ink and a beautiful mahogany and bronze pen holder complete the set.
