The Contarini Palace was built in the 14th century as the home of the Contarini family. The famous Bovolo staircase was added later to the palace and named for its shape like a snail’s shell. In Venetian dialect, small snails are called “bovoletti” which is why Venetians called it scala del bovolo.
Our art masters inspired by this story drew the designs of the Contarini pen in roller fountain pen and ballpoint versions. Secular symbols and customs of Venice meet modern taste, and find expression in the Contarini pen. It is from the careful selection of symbols that are the result of collective memory, and their encounter with the present, that historical and modern design come together to create objects rich in history and personality.
